LSU Mardi Gras Mambo Video/Photos: Tigers Get into the Carnival Spirit
February 27, 2025
At LSU, the culture of Louisiana isn’t just celebrated—it’s lived. And there’s no
better example of that than the annual Mardi Gras Mambo, an event that brings the
excitement, tradition, and community of Carnival right to the heart of campus. Held
on Feb. 25, this year’s Mambo gave students a taste of one of Louisiana’s most beloved
traditions without having to leave Baton Rouge.
Mardi Gras Mambo is more than just a themed event; it’s an immersive celebration that
showcases what makes Louisiana—and LSU—special. Hosted by Campus Life, this year’s
festivities transformed campus into a mini-Mardi Gras, complete with a lively parade,
authentic Louisiana music, and, of course, plenty of king cake.
For many students, especially those from outside the state, the Mambo serves as an
introduction to the cultural richness that defines Louisiana. From catching beads
to dancing to the rhythms of zydeco and brass bands, the event gives everyone a chance
to experience the energy of Mardi Gras firsthand.
For students who might not have the chance to attend a major parade in New Orleans, the Mambo provides an accessible way to be part of the celebration. And for Louisiana natives, it’s a reminder that home isn’t far away, even on campus.
LSU offers students a college experience that’s truly unique, blending academic excellence
with the vibrant spirit of Louisiana. At LSU, you don’t just go to school in Louisiana—you
become part of Louisiana. And that’s something worth celebrating.
