Hyun Kyung Kim, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Louisiana
State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She earned her bachelor’s degree in physical
education from Korea National Sport University, and completed her MS in Exercise Science
and PhD in Health Sciences at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Kim subsequently
held postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of Auckland and Iowa State
University before joining LSU in August 2022.
Teaching:
KIN3514 Biomechanical Basis of Kinesiology
KIN 7508 Analysis of Human Movement
KIN 7526 Advanced Topics in Biomechanics
Editorial Review Board Member:
Sports Biomechanics (Taylor & Francis), 2022-present
Dr. Kim’s research focuses on musculoskeletal biomechanics, medical imaging, wearable
sensor technologies, and motion capture analysis. Her work emphasizes understanding
muscle morphology, movement patterns, and their relationship to lower-limb injuries
with the broader goal of improving performance and injury prevention through integrated
biomechanical assessment.
