Research Interest
Using geophysical data (bathymetry and chirp subbottom profiles) and sediment cores,
the Wei lab studies how depositional and erosional processes have shaped underwater
deposits over recent timescales (years to thousands of years). The morphology of deposits
can shed light on sediment routing from distributaries to the shelf and deep sea.
Dr. Wei has studied environments on passive and active margins ranging from barrier
islands, to submarine delta fronts, and the continental slope. Currently, her lab's
research focuses on the geomorphology offshore of the eastern Bird's Foot of the Mississippi
River Delta and the Mississippi River Delta Front.
